Jana Gage

Jana Gage lived 1943 to 1995. Born in Washington D.C., moving to Paris, France as a toddler, back to Kansas City as an elementary and JR. High student, and finally to California as a near adult. A fine athlete as a youth, she fell sick with rheumatoid arthritus at 13. The family moved to California for warmer weather to help alleviate her painful symptoms. Jana is known for her artwork, and unique personality. She was a person of the moment, spontaneous. She loved the night, candles, wine, and jazz music. Her main goal in life was to enjoy it, and to do artwork. Married once, to country western musician Jim Kleisner and divorced after 7 years. Unfortunately, Jana had a long time habit of smoking and died of cancer at age 52 in Palm Desert, California.

Cartoons - a bumble bee

Not always successful, Jana attempted to sell cartoon character ideas to department stores for uses such as greeting cards or promotional ads. This is perhaps one such attempt.

Dragon Sweat Shirt

Jana often sold custom-designed t-shirts and sweat shirts. She used an air brush to create these.
